The Infiniti G37 replaced the G35 for the 2008 model year, moving to the larger VQ37VHR 3.7-litre V6 with Nissan's VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) system. That technology gives the engine more power and better efficiency than the VQ35DE, but it also adds mechanical complexity that matters when sourcing a replacement.
The G37 was sold as a sedan, coupe and convertible, and the three body styles can differ in transmission options, accessory layout and the surrounding hardware. The coupe was offered with a manual transmission that the sedan and convertible may not share, and that affects more than the gearbox when it comes to matching an engine.
Because the VQ37VHR replaced the VQ35DE across multiple Nissan and Infiniti models, supply exists from several donor vehicles. However, the G37 application has its own accessory layout and calibration, so a VQ37VHR from a 370Z or an FX35 is not automatically a G37 part.

Where Infiniti G37 orders go wrong
- The VQ37VHR is not interchangeable with the VQ35DE. Confirm your G37 was not swapped from a G35 before ordering.
- Coupe, sedan and convertible body styles may differ in transmission options and accessory layout. Specify all three.
- Manual and automatic transmissions use different flywheel and torque converter assemblies. The engine alone is not the complete order.
