Which is more reliable, Honda or Toyota engines?

Both have strong reliability records across their families, but the failure modes differ. Toyota 2AZ-FE engines have known oil consumption issues from the head bolt design. Honda K-series engines are generally well-regarded but have variant-specific issues. Reliability depends more on maintenance history and the specific variant than on the manufacturer.

How do Nissan engines compare to Subaru engines?

They serve different purposes. Nissan VQ-series V6 engines are common in sedans and crossovers, with a strong supply and well-understood maintenance needs. Subaru flat-four engines are distinctive for their layout and are common in all-wheel-drive applications.
