Privacy policy
What this site collects, why, and what happens to it. Last updated August 21, 2026.
This policy describes what JDM Engines Phoenix actually does with information, written against the code that runs the site rather than adapted from a template. Where something is not done, it says so.
What you send us deliberately
The Engine Finder is the only place this site asks you for information. When you submit it, these fields are recorded:
- Vehicle: model year, make, model, and optionally trim, engine size, engine code, transmission and VIN.
- Logistics: ZIP code, whether you would collect or need shipping, and your purchase timeline.
- Contact: your name, and a phone number or an email address. At least one, so there is a way to reply.
- Notes: anything you choose to add in the free-text field.
- Consent: the confirmation that we may contact you about the request.
Trim, engine size, engine code, transmission, VIN and notes are optional. Nothing about the form requires them and the request is answerable without them.
What is recorded automatically
- Campaign attribution: the first page you landed on, the referring site if you arrived from one, and any
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_term,utm_contentorgclidvalues in the URL. These are read once on your first page view and held in your browser’s session storage until you submit the form or close the tab. - The page you submitted from.
- Your browser’s user agent string.
- A salted, truncated hash of your IP address: not the address itself. The raw IP is never written to storage. If no hashing salt is configured on the deployment, no hash is stored either, because an unsalted hash of an IP address is trivially reversible and would be personal data wearing a disguise.
Attribution exists because this site is paid a commission on sales it refers, and it needs to know which pages produce useful enquiries in order to improve them. It is not used to build a profile of you across other sites.
Where it goes
- A database we control, which holds the enquiry and its status as it is worked.
- The seller who fulfils engine orders, by email and/or an outbound webhook to their system. They receive the vehicle details, your contact details and your notes, because that is what answering your request requires.
If neither a database nor a notification channel is configured on the deployment, the form refuses to accept submissions rather than reporting success for an enquiry that would go nowhere.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4, and only when a measurement ID has been configured. With no ID set, the site loads no third-party JavaScript at all: not an empty tag, none. Google sets its own cookies when it is active; their handling of that data is governed by their terms, not by this policy.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no advertising cookies and no cross-site trackers of its own. It uses your browser’s session storage for two things: the campaign attribution described above, and an unfinished Engine Finder draft so that switching apps to read the code off your engine block does not lose the fields you already filled in. Both are cleared when you close the tab, and the draft never includes your consent checkbox, that has to be given deliberately each time.
An authentication cookie is set only for the private administration area, which is not accessible to site visitors.
How your information is used
To identify the engine your vehicle needs, to check availability and pricing, and to reply to you about that request. The consent you give on the form covers contact about your enquiry. It is not a subscription to marketing, and no automated marketing sequence is sent from this site.
Retention
Enquiries are kept while they are being worked and afterwards as a record of the transaction, including for commission reconciliation on sales that complete. There is no fixed deletion schedule published here, because stating one that is not actually enforced would be worse than stating none. You can ask for your enquiry to be deleted at any time.
Sharing
Your information is shared with the seller fulfilling engine orders, and with the infrastructure providers that host the site, store the database and deliver notification email. It is not sold, and it is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Security
Submissions are validated on the server, stored using parameterised queries, and rate limited. The administration area requires authentication and is excluded from search indexing. No system is perfectly secure and this policy does not claim otherwise.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about your enquiry, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Quote the reference number you were given when you submitted the form. It makes finding the record immediate. Contact details are here, and the Engine Finder reaches us if no direct channel is listed.
This site is operated from the United States and is intended for buyers in the metro Phoenix area. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. The policy is meant to describe the implementation, so a change to one should always mean a change to the other.
