Acura JDM Engines in Phoenix, Arizona

Acura engines are Honda engines with different specifications, which matters more than the shared block suggests.

Every Acura engine in this catalogue is a member of a Honda family. That is a useful thing to know because it means the supply is deeper than the badge implies, and a misleading thing to know because it invites the assumption that any Honda unit from the same family will do.

The families that come up are the K-series in the TSX and RSX, the J-series V6 in the TL, MDX and later TSX, and the B-series in the Integra.

Why the Acura variant is usually the expensive one

Acura models generally received the higher-specification version of a shared family. The TSX’s K24A2 has a revised cylinder head, a different intake manifold and higher compression than the K24A1 fitted to a CR-V. The Integra Type R’s B18C5 sits above the GS-R’s B18C1 in the same way.

Two consequences follow. Prices for Acura variants run higher than for their Honda siblings, and misdescription is more common. A K24 advertised as a K24A2 is worth checking against the stamp, because the price gap makes the claim worth making whether or not it is true.

Which vehicle is the engine for?

Year, make and model get us most of the way. Trim matters more than people expect. A 2008 Civic is a different engine depending on whether it is an Si.

LX, EX, Si, Type-S, V6. Whatever is on the badge.

Know your engine code? Add it here.

If you do not, leave these blank. That is genuinely fine. Working out which engine a vehicle takes is the part we do. Here is where the code is stamped if you want to look.

Common questions

Is an Acura engine the same as a Honda engine?

It comes from the same family, but usually in a different specification. A TSX K24A2 and a CR-V K24A1 share a block family and differ in head, intake and compression. So the shared lineage widens where you can look for an engine; it does not mean any unit from the family will fit.

Can I put a Honda K24 in my Acura TSX?

Not as a like-for-like replacement. The TSX was built with the K24A2, and other K24 variants differ in ways that affect the tune and the way the engine runs. If cost is the reason for asking, it is worth getting a quote on the correct variant first. The gap is often smaller than expected.
